U.S. Women’s National Team Roster Set For December Rivalry Series Games

Group includes 20 Olympic medalists; U.S. will face Canada Dec. 15 in Vegas and Dec. 19 in LA

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey announced the 26 players who have been selected to the U.S. Women’s National Team that will face Canada in the two December contests part of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series

The roster features all 23 players who took home silver for Team USA at the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship in August, including Cayla Barnes (Eastvale, Calif.), Hannah Bilka (Coppell, Texas), Hannah Brandt (Vadnais Heights, Minn.), Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.), Jesse Compher (Northbrook, Ill.), Kendall Coyne Schofield (Palos Heights, Ill.), Jincy Dunne (O’Fallon, Mo.), Lacey Eden (Annapolis, Md.), Aerin Frankel (Chappaqua, N.Y.), Rory Guilday (Minnetonka, Minn.), Savannah Harmon(Downers Grove, Ill.), Caroline Harvey (Salem, N.H.), Taylor Heise (Lake City, Minn.), Nicole Hensley (Lakewood, Colo.), Megan Keller (Farmington Hills, Mich.), Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.), Hilary Knight(Sun Valley, Idaho), Kelly Pannek (Plymouth, Minn.), Abby Roque (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), Hayley Scamurra (Getzville, N.Y.), Maddie Rooney (Andover, Minn.), Lee Stecklein (Roseville, Minn.) and Grace Zumwinkle (Excelsior, Minn.).

2018 Olympian Kali Flanagan (Hudson, N.H) and 2022 Olympian Abbey Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill.) are also part of Team USA’s roster, as is Tessa Janecke (Orangeville, Ill.), who is making her U.S. Women’s National Team debut after competing for Team USA at the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship.

Team USA currently leads the 2022-23 Rivalry Series, 3-0. The U.S. secured a 4-3 shootout victory in Kelowna, B.C. and a 2-1 victory in Kamloops, B.C., before topping Canada, 4-2, before a record-breaking crowd of 14,551 at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Wash. 

The December games in the 2022-23 Rivalry Series will take place in Henderson, Nev., on Dec. 15 at The Dollar Loan Center and in Los Angeles on Dec. 19 at Crypto.com Arena. For the full schedule and ticket information, click HERE.

ENGSTROM ADDED TO COACHING STAFF

John Wroblewski (Neenah, Wis.) returns as head coach, as do assistant coaches Josh Sciba (Westland, Mich.), Shari Dickerman (Richmond, Minn.) and goaltending coach Alli Altmann (Eagan, Minn.). In addition, Molly Engstrom (Siren, Wis.), the current head women’s ice hockey coach at the University of Maine and a two-time Olympian as a player, has joined the staff as an assistant coach.
