TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Que. – Team USA takes the ice for the first of the final two games of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series on Monday, as the U.S. Women’s National Team takes on Canada at the Colisée Vidéotron in Trois-Rivières. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on NHL Network.
LAST TIME OUT
Game five of the Rivalry Series was decided in overtime when Canada's Danielle Serdachnyscored on a two-on-one with 2:45 remaining in the extra frame. Early in the first, Team USA opened the scoring when Cayla Barnes gave the U.S. an early 1-0 in the first. Canada answered back with two goals in the second, before Taylor Heise knotted the game at 2-2 with 10 minutes left in the third. Nicole Hensley made 25 saves in net.
IN THE RIVALRY SERIES
The U.S. holds a 6-2-2-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record over Canada all time in the Rivalry Series. Four of the 13 meetings have gone to overtime or a shootout.
RAZOR-THIN MARGIN
With the exception of game three, all games of the Rivalry Series have been decided by one score, with the deciding tally coming in either the third period or the shootout.
WHEN IN CANADA...
With the victories in Canada back in November, Team USA has now won four-straight games when playing in Canada, dating back to the pre-Olympic tour, the My Why Tour, in 2021.
