GAME DAY | Final Game of the Rivalry Series Set for Tonight

Series with Canada tied at three games each

LAVAL, Que. – Game seven of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series will take place Wednesday evening as the U.S. Women’s National Team will face off against Canada at Place Bell.  Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be found on NHL Network. 

TODAY'S MATCHUP

Today's meeting between the U.S. and Canada marks the seventh and final game of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series. The series is currently tied at three games each. The winner of today's game will win the Rivalry Series title and will take home the Rivalry Series trophy.

LAST TIME OUT

The two teams last faced each other on Monday, with Canada winning 5-1. Sarah Nurse and Laura Stacey scored just 18 seconds apart early in the first period to give Canada a lead they would not relinquish. Kelly Pannek (Plymouth, Minn.) tallied Team USA’s lone goal in the third period, while Aerin Frankel (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) made 25 saves in just her second U.S. Women’s National Team start ever.

PENDULUM-SWING MOMENTUM

Momentum in this season's Rivalry Series has swung back and forth between the U.S. and Canada with each team going on a three-game win streak at different points during the series. Team USA won the first three games, while Canada has won the last three games, with tonight's matchup deciding the outcome of the series.

PENALTY KILL WORKING HARD 

Team USA's penalty kill has been working hard and firing on all cylinders during the series. The U.S. has killed off 22 of 24 power-play opportunities for Canada, a 92-percent clip. Canada has had 24 total extra-skater chances, compared to Team USA's 18.

GAINING EXPERIENCE 

A total of 39 different players have represented Team USA during the 2022-23 Rivalry Series, gaining valuable experience with the U.S. Women's National Team. Of the 39 skaters, 12 were making their senior national team debut.
