Team USA Announces Roster for U18 Men's World Championship

The U.S. begins preliminary-round play tomorrow (April 20) against Latvia

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today a 23-player roster for the U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team that will compete at the 2023 IIHF U18 Men's World Championship from April 20-30 in Basel and Porrentruy, Switzerland.

This year's tournament features 10 countries split into two groups for the preliminary round, which begins tomorrow (April 20). Team USA will compete in Group B alongside Finland, Latvia, Norway and Switzerland, with all games played at St. Jakob Arena in Basel. Group B includes Canada, Czechia, Germany, Slovakia and Sweden, and they will play preliminary-round games at Raiffeisen Arena in Porrentruy. Each site will host two quarterfinal games, while the two semifinal games and bronze and gold-medal games will be played in Basel.

2023 U18 Men's Worlds Roster

Team USA is led by Dan Muse (Canton, Mass.), who is coaching in his second U18 World Championship after leading Team USA in 2021. Zach Schulz (South Lyon, Mich.) is the captain of  the team, while Ryan Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) and Oliver Moore (Mounds View, Minn.) will serve as alternate captains.

The U.S. is in search of its 11th gold medal in tournament history after most recently claiming gold in 2017 in Poprad, Slovakia. The 10 gold medals are the most of any team in tournament history.

The Under-18 Team begins preliminary-round play tomorrow (April 20) against Latvia at 10:00 a.m. ET. All Team USA games throughout the tournament will broadcast live on NHL Network.
