Keady Norton To Coach 2024 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Liz Keady Norton (Boston, Mass./Dartmouth), currently the head women’s ice hockey coach at Dartmouth College, will serve as head coach of the 2024 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team, USA Hockey announced today. 

Joining Keady Norton as assistant coaches will be Brianna Decker (Dousman, Wis./Shattuck-St. Mary’s) and Meredith Roth (Dubuque, Iowa/Holy Cross). Sanya Sandahl (Duluth, Minn./Augsburg) will serve as the goaltending coach. 

The 2024 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship is set for Jan. 6-14 in Switzerland. 

ABOUT KEADY NORTON 

Liz Keady Norton takes over the head coaching duties after serving as an assistant coach for the 2023 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team where she helped lead the team to a bronze medal at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Östersund, Sweden, in January. 

Keady Norton has served as the head coach of the Dartmouth College women’s ice hockey team since 2021-22 and in her first season led the Big Green to its highest win total since 2015. 

Prior to Dartmouth, she spent four seasons (2017-21) with the Boston University women’s ice hockey program, two as associate head coach and two as assistant coach. She also served as an assistant women’s ice hockey coach for two seasons at Harvard University (2015-17) and one year (2014-15) at Union College. 

Keady Norton is a 2008 graduate of Princeton University where she was a four-year letter winner in women’s ice hockey. She represented the U.S. as a member of the 2004 Under-22 Select Team and spent the 2005-06 season with the U.S. Women’s National Team.

ABOUT DECKER 

Brianna Decker returns to the bench as an assistant coach for the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team, a role she has held on the bronze medal-winning 2023 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team staff, gold medal-winning 2020 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team and the silver medal-winning 2019 U18 women’s squad. 

Decker currently serves as girls prep associate head coach and special advisor to the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Hockey Program, a role she has been in since August 2022. 

As a player, Decker helped the U.S. to three Olympic medals, including gold in 2018 and silver in 2014 and 2022. She also skated at eight IIHF Women’s World Championships (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021), taking home gold six times. 

ABOUT ROTH 

Meredith Roth is making her second appearance as an assistant coach for the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team in 2024 having played an integral part of the coaching staff on the gold medal-winning 2020 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team. 

Roth recently finished her fourth season as associate head coach of the College of the Holy Cross women’s hockey team. Prior to joining the Crusaders’ staff, Roth spent four seasons as the head coach of the St. Norbert College women’s hockey program. She has had two stints as an assistant coach at Providence College (2006-10 and 2012-15) and helped lead Cornell University to two Frozen Four appearances during her time as assistant coach (2010-12). 

As a player, Roth represented the U.S. as a member of the 2003 Under-22 Select Team and was named to the roster of the 2003 U.S. Women’s National Team. 

ABOUT SANDAHL 

Sanya Sandahl reprises her role as the goaltending coach for the 2024 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team, after serving in the same capacity in 2023. 

Sandahl is currently an assistant coach for the Augsburg University women’s hockey program and has been a part of the coaching staff since 2011. In her role, she works primarily with the team’s goaltenders. 

The Duluth, Minn. is a 2003 graduate of Cornell University where she was a four-year letter winner in women’s ice hockey.
