24 goaltenders invited to attend the camp in Plymouth, Michigan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twenty-four American men’s and women’s goaltenders have been invited to the 2023 USA Hockey National Goaltending Camp, set for May 19-21 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

The three days will consist of on-ice skill development, video analysis and mental performance training activities for the 24 invitees, ranging from 16 to 23 years old.

“As American goalies continue to make their mark at the highest levels of the game, USA Hockey is once again excited to host the National Goaltending Camp,” said David Lassonde, USA Hockey’s national goaltending coach. “The camp serves as another tool to continue the process of identifying potential candidates for our National Teams. We have assembled a very talented on- and off-ice staff and are thrilled with the group of men and women who will be attending.”

The camp will allow the netminders to compete amongst their peers, grow their games, self-evaluate and learn from an experienced camp staff.

Among the staff are Lassonde, who served as an assistant coach at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship which took home gold, Steve Thompson, USA Hockey's manager of goaltending, Alli Altmann, goalie coach for the gold-medal winning 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship, Scott Clemmensen, director of goaltending development for the New Jersey Devils  and Alex Westlund, goaltending coach for the Detroit Red Wings.

“We are really looking forward to the National Goaltending Camp and getting back with our tremendous group of athletes and staff,” said Altmann, goaltending coach for the U.S. Women's National Team. “This will be a great opportunity to positively impact the future of our position and continue to grow the goaltending depth in the United States."
