GAME DAY | U.S. faces China in Semifinals Today

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will take on China here today inthe semifinals of the World Para Ice Hockey Championship. Puck drop is set for 5:00 p.m. ET at the Moose Jaw Events Centre in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The game will be streamed live on the Paralympics YouTube and Facebook.

Both teams enter this game with unbeaten tournament records, with the U.S. going 3-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in preliminary round play, while China moved to 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) after beating Korea 7-2 in the quarterfinals yesterday. The U.S. carries a 14-2-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record on the season into the contest.

Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.), Jack Wallace (Franklin Lakes, N.J.), and Travis Dodson (Deming, N.M) all scored and Jen Lee (San Antonio, Texas) recorded a shutout as the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team defeated Canada 3-0 in its final preliminary round game on Wednesday to clinch the top seed in Group A, earning a bye along with Canada to the semifinals. 

This is just the second meeting all-time between the U.S. and China, with the first coming in the 2022 Paralympic semifinals in Beijing, which Team USA won 11-0.

Dodson is leading the U.S. with five goals and six points, and Kevin McKee (Davenport, Iowa) leads the team with four assists. China’s Yi Feng Shen is the tournament’s top goal scorer (12) and point-getter (15), while teammate Zhi Dong Wang leads all players in assists (7).
