Today's game marks the second game of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series between the U.S. Women's National Team and Canada. Following a 3-1 win in game one, the U.S. leads the series 1-0.
The U.S. opened the 2023-24 Rivalry Series with a 3-1 victory over Canada at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Knotted at 1-1 heading into the final period, Taylor Heise (Lake City, Minn.) and Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.) tallied two unanswered goals to put Team USA up 3-1. Goaltender Aerin Frankel (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) recorded 36 saves in the victory.
Forward Laila Edwards (Cleveland, Ohio) is making her U.S. Women's National Team debut during today's game. Edwards, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin was most recently on the 2022 U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team.
Dating back to the start of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series, forward Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho) has tallied at least one point in eight of the last ten meetings against Canada. Through seven games of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series, two meetings at the 2023 Women's World Championship and the first game of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series, Knight has recorded 14 points (9G, 5A).
