GAME DAY: Rivalry Series Resumes In Saskatoon

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – The 2023-24 Rivalry Series resumes on Wednesday (Feb. 7), as the U.S. Women’s National Team faces off against Canada at the SaskTel Centre in game five of the seven-game series. 

Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on NHL Network. 

TODAY'S GAME

Today's game marks the fifth game of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series between the U.S. Women's National Team and Canada. The U.S. currently leads the series 3-1, having won the first three games of the series, before dropping game four in a shootout. 

LAST TIME OUT

Team Canada won game four of the Rivalry Series, 4-3, in a shootout back in December. After a shorthanded tally in the first by Megan Keller, Team USA doubled its lead to 2-0 following a 2-on-1 opportunity that Alex Carpenter deflected up into the net. Team Canada answered back with two goals to close out the second, before a scoreless third period and overtime pushed the contest to a shootout. Marie-Philip Poulin tallied the only shootout score to give Canada to victory. 

LAST TIME IN SASKATCHEWAN

Team USA last played in Saskatchewan during the 2018 Four Nations Cup. The U.S. went aperfect 4-0 in the tournament, defeating Canada 5-2 in the championship game.  

COYNE SCHOFIELD RETURNS

Forward Kendall Coyne Schofield (Palos Heights, Ill.) returns to the U.S. Women's National Team for the first time since giving birth to her son Drew in July. Coyne Schofield last skated for Team USA during the December swing of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series.
