GAME DAY | U.S. and Canada Meet for Sled Worlds Gold-Medal Game

CALGARY, Alberta -- The U.S. National Sled Team will take on Canada in the gold-medal game at the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championship here today at WinSport Arena.

Team USA enters this contest with an unbeaten 19-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record on the season.

The U.S. and Canada both enter this game with unbeaten 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) records at the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championship. Team USA toppled Czechia 3-1 in semifinal action on Friday. Malik Jones (Aurora, Colo.) scored the game-winning goal with 7:01 remaining in the contest, while Chris Douglas (Sant Cloud) scored twice to help the U.S. punch its ticket to the gold-medal game. Canada earned a 2-1 comeback victory against China in a semifinal matchup on Friday night to advance. 

This evening’s matchup marks the seventh-consecutive World Para Ice Hockey Championship gold-medal game between these two teams. The U.S. has won three-straight gold-medal games, and is 5-1-0-3 all-time, including 3-1-0-2 against Canada, when playing for the gold medal.

The U.S. and Canada have faced off 122 times across all competitions, and Team USA holds a slight edge with a 53-12-7-48-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record. These two teams have matched up nine times this season, with the U.S. going 9-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L), including wins in the IPH Cup and Para Hockey Cup title games.
