Future NHL Stars Descending On USA Hockey Arena This Weekend

World Junior Summer Showcase Starts Friday and includes USA, Finland, Sweden, Canada

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Some of the best hockey players in the world, many which will one day play in the NHL, will descend upon USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, later this week for the World Junior Summer Showcase, which begins Friday (July 26) and runs through Aug. 3.

With players from the U.S., Finland, Sweden and Canada, the World Junior Summer Showcase is an annual event hosted by USA Hockey as part of the evaluation process for players hoping to make their respective nation’s team for the next IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

“The World Junior Summer Showcase is a unique opportunity for fans to see some of the top young players from around the world,” said John Vanbiesbrouck, general manager of the U.S. National Junior Team and assistant executive director of USA Hockey. “The games will be highly competitive as each of the four nations evaluate candidates for the upcoming World Juniors in Ottawa.”

A total of nine games will be played among the teams as part of the Showcase and tickets for those contests are currently on sale at the USA Hockey Arena box office or online by clicking HERE. In addition, all nine games can be watched live and on-demand on USAHockeyTV.com.

Games in the Showcase start on Sunday (July 28) with USA White facing Finland at 1 p.m. and USA Blue battling Sweden at 4 p.m. 

“Rivalry Day” will conclude Showcase action on Saturday, Aug. 3, with Sweden facing Finland at 1 p.m., before the U.S. tangles with Canada at 4 p.m.

The 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship is set for Dec. 26, 2024-Jan. 5, 2025, in Ottawa, Ontario. The U.S. will enter the tournament as the defending gold medalist.
