COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twenty-seven players have been named to the camp roster for the 2025 U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team, USA Hockey announced today.
The players will assemble in Frisco, Texas, for pre-tournament camp, consisting of two pre-tournament games and practices, from April 15-21.
Players are audition for a spot on the 25-player roster that will represent Team USA at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship April 23 – May 3, in Frisco, Texas. Tickets for the tournament can be purchased online here.
The 27 players, comprised of 15 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders, come from 12 states as Minnesota leads the way with seven players. A total of 22 players are committed to play collegiately, with a pair of players who already have NCAA experience. Of those 24 players, the University of Michigan leads with four players, while the Big Ten Conference leads with 10.
NHL Network is the exclusive home of the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship in the United States and will air every Team USA game of the tournament and both medal contests. Steve Mears and Tony Granato will call all U.S. games. Additionally, all games of the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The final U.S. roster is expected to be announced April 22. Team USA has medaled in 19 of the last 20 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championships and leads all countries with 11 gold medals.
NOTES: Tickets for the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship in Frisco and Allen, Texas, can be purchased online here… This marks the second time the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship will be played in Texas, and the fourth time in the U.S., as Frisco and Plano were the host site for the 2021 tournament… Twenty-five players have represented USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program… Team USA has medaled in 20 of 25 tournament and has 11 gold medals, six silver medals and three bronze medals… LJ Mooney (West Mifflin, Pa.) is the sole returner from the 2024 U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team that earned a silver medal… Greg Moore (Lisbon, Maine) will serve as head coach of the 2025 IIHF U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team for the first time. Chad Kolarik (Abington, Pa.), Ryan Hayes (Syracuse, N.Y.), David Lassonde (Durham, N.H.), Tommy Cogan (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Mike Garman (Vail, Colo.). will serve as assistant coaches... Team USA is in Group B and will play preliminary round games against Czechia, Switzerland, Sweden and Germany.
