GAME DAY | U.S. Set to Face Off Against Czechia in Final Sled Worlds Preliminary Round Contest

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. National Sled Team will take on Czechia here today (May 27) in its third and final preliminary-round contest of the 2025 World Para Ice Hockey Championship at the LECOM Harborcenter. Puck drop is set for 1:30 p.m. ET. Fans can purchase tickets here, and stream the game live on USAHockeyTV.com and Peacock.

The U.S. beat Norway, 12-0, on Saturday (May 24), and Slovakia, 13-0, on Sunday (May 25) on to move to 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in preliminary-round action. Through two games, Team USA’s +25 goal differential holds the top spot amongst all teams at the tournament. 

In Sunday’s victory over Slovakia, captain Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.) tallied his 200th career point. Additionally, Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) scored four goals, and Jack Wallace (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) tallied a seven-point hat trick, giving each of them a team-leading 10 points in the tournament. 

Czechia also enters the contest with a 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record after collecting wins over Slovakia and Norway in its first two preliminary round contests. The winner of today’s contest will enter playoff rounds as the top seed in Group B.

Most recently, the U.S. and Czechia matched up in the preliminary round of the 2024 Para Hockey Cup. Team USA skated to a 7-1 victory. Team USA is 16-0-1-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) against Czechia all-time across all competitions. 

All-time, the U.S. holds a 50-3-1-16 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in world championship play, including 11 podium finishes and a record six gold medals.
