Team USA Defeats Canada, 3-0, in Title Game

OSTRAVA, Czechia – Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) scored twice and goaltender Griffin LaMarre (Haverhill, Mass.)  recorded a shutout to help the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team capture the 2025 IPH Cup championship with a 3-0 victory over Canada here today (Oct. 26) at Ostravar Arena.

“I thought this was a great way to finish this tournament, a really solid effort from beginning to end tonight,” said David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.), head coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. “From the goaltending, to all the way up front, we played a really solid game and hopefully that’s a start to a really strong season.”

Malik Jones (Aurora, Colo.) opened the scoring 9:17 into the contest while the U.S. was shorthanded, intercepting an attempted breakout pass in the slot and firing the puck past Canadian netminder Corbin Watson for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Team USA doubled its lead at the 7:38 mark of the middle frame when Farmer beat Watson with a deke and tucked the puck home from just outside the crease off a feed from Jack Wallace (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) while on the power play.

The U.S. appeared to take a 3-0 lead midway through the third period when Brett Bolton (Rockledge, Fla.) tipped a shot from Travis Dodson (Deming, N.M.), but the goal was called back for goaltender interference.

Farmer notched an empty net tally in the final minute to account for the 3-0 final.

LaMarre stopped all 12 shots he faced in goal for the U.S.

NOTES: The U.S. outshot Canada 27-12 … Team USA was 1-4 on the power play, while Canada was 0-5… Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.)  was named U.S. Player of the Game … Team USA has won all four IPH Cup championships since the inaugural tournament in 2022.
