EDMONTON, Alberta – The U.S. Women’s National Team completed the sweep of the 2025 Rivalry Series, presented by Discover, defeating Canada, 4-1, in game four on Saturday evening at Rogers Place. 

With the win, the U.S. holds a 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in this season’s series. 

“We expected them to come out swinging and were able to weather the storm,” said John Wroblewski (Neenah, Wis.), head coach of the 2025 U.S. Women’s National Team. “This was a strong game and gives us a lot to think about as we head into Milan.”

The first period featured back-and-forth action with the U.S. garnering two power-play opportunities. On the defensive end, Aerin Frankel (Chappaqua, N.Y./Boston Fleet) made several timely saves to keep the game scoreless despite being outshot, 12-6. 

Team USA opened the scoring with 14:47 left in the second. Abbey Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill./University of Minnesota) drew the goaltender’s eye and tied up a defender in front of the net, allowing a point shot from Caroline Harvey (Salem, N.H./University of Wisconsin) to deflect off a skate and into the net. 

Just one minute later, Canada answered with a goal from Brianne Jenner, to knot the game at 1-1. 

Laila Edwards (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/University of Wisconsin) put the U.S. up 2-1 just 1:06 later, after Taylor Heise (Lake City, Minn./Minnesota Frost) dug the puck out from along the half wall, connecting on a cross-ice pass to Edwards who snuck a sharp-angle shot over Canada’s Ann-Renée Desbiens’ glove. 

Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho/Seattle Torrent) threw a pass on net from the just inside the boards that found its way through Desbiens’ five-hole, for the third goal of the evening for Team USA. She then put away her second of the period, an empty-net tally, with 1:37 left in the game to ice it at 4-1.
