WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!! Team USA wins the world junior championship and the players are all over the ice to celebrate! It's time for us to celebrate this historic win. We'll be back soon with more content from this incredible victory.

End of Game - USA 3 - SWE 1

00:16 - GOAL! Trocheck scores on the empty net and it's all over now! USA is going to be world champions!!!!!!!!!!

---

30 Seconds left

---

McCabe slides to make a block! The captain wants this so bad. Now Pietila knocks it out of the zone

---

Grind Line on the ice for the key minutes. Gibson Kicks away a shot. Empty net for Sweden.

---

1:50 - Net comes off behind Gibson as players crashed around him following a save. Sweden takes a timeout. Russian fans are trying to start a USA chant in their language "S She A"

---

2:10 - Grimaldi has been everywhere todayhe keeps the puck in and fight soff defenders behind the net.

---

3:00 - Grimaldi chips it out of the zone then steals the puck and flips a shot on Lundstrom. Faceoff in Sweden end.

---

Galchenyuk, Barber and Kuraly burn some valuable time cycling in the Sweden end. Good effort. Gibson freezes the puck with 3:56 to go

---

Trouba holds off a forward and steals the puck in the U.S. end and sends it back the other way. He's been the best defender in the tournament so far in my opinion. Less than 5 minutes to go

---

Grind Line takes the draw in Sweden end

---

5:52 - Murphy with a HUGE blocked shot! What an effort. Grimaldi breaks out of the zone and forces a shot on Lundstrom to get a faceoff and rest for his teammates.

---

Sweden with two close calls right on the door step on a puck that snuck into the crease from behind the net.

---

Sweden is definitely in high attack mode. Can the U.S. hold on?

---

Sweden has some success cycling now, they have the U.S. pinned, but then fan on a shot and gives the USA a chance to change.

---

Slap shot that didn't have everything deflected up and fluttered just wide of Gibson and the net. Close call on an odd bounce.

---

Galchenyuk and Vesey have a 2-on-1, Galy couldn't shoot before Collberg stick checked him and Lundstrom covered up

---

11:40 - Back to even strength.

---

Leg save on a slapshot from Hagg! then offsides call on Sweden as the D man can't hold the puck in. 12 seconds left in the PK

---

Sweden stuck in their own end trying to do a line change

---

First minute killed off

--

Bardreau and pietila with Jones and McCabe on the PK

---

13:53 - Miller fires from the red line and there's a rebound but no one can get a shot off. Now goal scorer Grimaldi is being called for tripping. Huge penalty kill coming up now

---

That was an amazing save. Gibson has at least 10 incredible saves this tournament.

---

Gibson streches post to post doing the splits to save a wraparound attempt

---

16:29 - Grind Line ices the puck and stays out for a draw in the D zone

---

Sandberg cuts across the crease but no shot really goes on Gibson. Murphy's shot is saved at the other end and held.

---

Trouba shot rebounds out of the zone. Good scoring chance.

---

18:46 - Galchenyuk's shot deflected out of play.

---

Diving poke check by Bardreau. Then he carries out of the zone and fires a shot on net to force a faceoff.

---

20:00 - Here we go! Grind Line with Jones and McCabe starts

Start of Third Period: USA 2 - SWE 1

---

3 minutes until the third period begins. Grimaldi's two goals came at the best time for the speedy forward. The defense and Gibson have to contain the turnovers and a bouncing puck that neither side has been able to corral much today.

---

Team USA leads shots 23 to 19. The way the Americans bounced back from the first goal set the tone for the rest of the game. They are not going to quit. Thanks for the comments!

End of Second Period - USA 2 - SWE 1

Another blocked shot by the Grind Line.

---

00:25 - Gibson calmly gloves a shot. Faceoff in the U.S. end

---

1:00 - Last minute of play here in the second

---

Karlsson has another chance right on the doorestep but he fans on the shot. Sweden surging, but then Galchenyuk and Kuraly have chances and Lundstrom has to cover up.

---

Bardreau in a big collision just inside the Sweden blue line. puck out of play, faceoff coming with Grimaldi Biggs and Trocheck to take it

---

Turnover in their own end leads to a golden chance for Karlsson but Gibson makes the save. No shots on goal that power play

---

USA spends the first minute of power play in its own zone aside from a brief moment.

---

Gaudreau puts on a stickhandling show and after enough Sweden players hack at him he finally draws a penalty on de la Rose for hooking. The USA goes to the power play. The Russians are cheering a note of thanks written in Russian on the big screen from TSN. The people here have been very welcoming and are cheering again for USA today.

---

Gibson kick save and there's a rebound but goes just wide of a Sweden stick. Trouba clears some room with a hit in the high slot.

---

They give it to Grimaldi.

USA 2 - SWE 1

9:33 - GOAL! Grimaldi scores his second of the game on a redirection off a Trouba wrist shot. We'll see who they credit with the goal. It bounced off a body in front. I think Grimaldi but could be Sweden.

---

10:53 - Barber and Kuraly scramble around Lundstrom but the goalie snags the puck with his glove. Team USA has been flying since the goal against.

---

Barber's back hand goes just wide of the corner. Jones throws a huge hit at the U.S. blue line. That's his first big one of the tournament.

---

Grimaldi picks the right game to score his first goal of the tournament. Very good effort for the smaller forward to fight through a bigger defender and find the space for the shot. Sieloff gets an assist so now all USA players including Gibson have points

USA 1 - SWE 1

12:18 - GOAL! Grimaldi fights through a check behind the net turns sharp at the red line and fires from a sharp angle. He catches Lundstrom off guard and the puck finds a way through!

---

12:50 - Biggs shot is shrugged away by Lundstrom

---

Penalties end. back to full strength

---

2-on-1 for sweden broken up by McCabe

---

16:22 - Trocheck and Biggs have a chance with a shot and rebound but Lundstrom makes the save. USA has jumped back from the goal. Each team penalized for roughing. Trocheck and Arnesson ... so it's 4-on-4

---

Barber's shot deflects just wide. Caught Lundstrom off guard with a quick release.

USA 0 - SWE 1

18:51 - GOAL! Trouba tries to glove a puck back behind the net but it bounces around pass Jones to a wide open Sandberg and he beats Gibson glove side high

---

Miller blocks a shot

---

Gibson has to fight off a shot then Trocheck hassles an open Swede in the slot.

--

20:00 - With 1:33 of penalty time to kill, Housley sends out Jones, Trocheck, Pietila and McCabe. We're underway!

Start of Second Period: USA 0 - SWE 0

---

Coming out to start the second period short handed, the U.S. will have to hold off what will be a strong Sweden surge. They've had trouble so far breaking in on Gibson and this odd-man situation gives them a chance to set up for one of the few times so far. They are very good on the power play, let's see if USA's penalty killers are up to the challenge with one of their best PK guys Bardreau in the box.

---

Tony: I agree with you when it comes to about the last 6 minutes of the period. Neither team was connecting on passes so the puck sort of stayed between the blue lines.

---

USA held the shot advantage 11-7 in the first period. They held puck possession for long stretches, hit a post and were the more aggressive team. That said they did go to the penalty box twice and will have 1:33 of penalty kill time at the start of the second. Gibson has been good when needed. What are your thoughts so far? Share them in the comments to the right.

End of First Period - USA 0 - SWE 0

00:19 - Karlsson fires a wrister and Gibson makes a save with his stick handle I believe. Great save.

---

00:27 - Bardreau tried to cut the corner onto Lundstrom and ran into the goalie so he is called for interference. Back on the PK

---

USA has had about 5 blocks at least so far. That's the effort Housley wants

---

1:37 - Vesey's wrister goes into Lundstrom's stomach and is frozen for afaceoff. Miller Gaudreau and Vesey take the draw in the Sweden end.

---

Sweden is having trouble breaking through the neutral zone on the U.S. defense. They can't move with speed across the blue line and it's hampering their ability to create chances.

---

USA shows why it leads the tournament in PK and dumps it down the ice several times to kill the advantage ending with a shot block by Murphy

---

Gibson makes the save and there's a rebound in the slot but no one home but Bardreau who dumps it down the ice.

---

6:39 - Gaudreau took a shotoff the inside of the knee and stayed out there. He then gets a penalty for hooking so the U.S. goes on the PK for the first time.

---

Grimaldi rings the post! Huge ping in the arena. Inside of the post blocker side. So close

---

Grimaldi, Trocheck and Biggs on with Jones and McCabe

---

So far this game has been like the rest for the U.S. Lots of puck control and a very aggressive forecheck with solid defense. Bardreau sends a blast on Lundstrom that is gloved for a faceoff.

---

Good pass to enter the zone by Sweden but Gibson makes the save on a wrister from the right dot.

---

Shots are 9-3 in USA's advantage so far midway through the first period

---

Hartman takes a big hit in the neutral zone then Gibson sticks a shot out of play

---

11:22 - Grind Line on the ice for a draw in Sweden's end

---

Power play ends ... then Gostisbehere takes a shot from behind the red line trying to bounce it in off Lundstrom, but the goaltender holds on.

---

Rebound off a Trocheck shot and Miller gets a whack at it but Lundstrom covers up. 16 seconds left in the advantage

---

2-man PP ends.

---

Trouba's blast with 4 seconds left int he 2-man advantage is blocked out of play.

---

Gaudreau, Miller and Co. had some looks but no shots on goal. USA regroups and sends out Galchenyuk, Kuraly and Barber ... they have trouble getting into the zone but then with Sweden trying to pin the puck behind the U.S. net, Arviddson is callde for hooking or high sticking Trouba. 5-on-3 for 30 seconds

---

15:17 - Interference call on Sweden's Boyce Rotevall. First power play for U.S.

---

Galchenyuk Kuraly and Barber out there now. Good cycling then a shot on goal that sat at Lundstrom's feet but Galchenyuk couldn't shove the puck in

---

17:05 - Trocheck stays with the play on the back check and breaks up the play.

---

Gaudreau dangles through the slot after a turnover but the puck somehow stays out. Icing call on Sweden

---

USA is being aggressive on the forecheck chasing the play into the Sweden end

---

20:00 - We're underway! Housley sends out the Grind Line of Bardreau, Pietila and Hartman with Jones and McCabe. The same starting lineup as before.

Start of Game - USA 0 - SWE 0

---

Let's see who the Russian home crowd gets behind. I see some Sweden fans and Canadian fans as well as a few USA jerseys. Against Canada the Ufa fans rooted for the U.S. but let's see what happens today

---

Here come the teams! John Gibson leads the USA to the ice and we're less than 3 minutes until puck drop.

---

Less than 15 minutes until puck drop. Good crowd in the building already. They filed out quickly but seem eager to fill the seats for this big game. Post any comments or questions to the right and I'll get to them before the game starts.

---

Special teams have been USA's strength for much of the tournament and will need to continue to be again today with a strong Swedish power play. Captain Jake McCabe is the last one to leave the ice after warmups.

---

There are gold balloons in nets above the ice. Expect quite the show post-game for whomever skates away with that color medal.

Team USA takes the ice for warmups here in Ufa Arena. Quick turnaround between games. Let's see if this place gets sold out and rocking for the championship game. Been a fantastic venue and great atmosphere throughout.
