MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – USA Hockey announced today that its U.S. National Junior Team roster has been trimmed to 26 players, three shy of the final number that will participate at the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2013-Jan. 5, 2014, in Malmo, Sweden.

The updated roster features three returnees from the 2013 U.S. National Junior Team that won the gold medal, including forwards Riley Barber (Pittsburgh, Pa./Miami Univ.) and Ryan Hartman (West Dundee, Ill.) and goaltender Jon Gillies (South Portland, Maine/Providence College).

"We have been very pleased with the competition at training camp and the decision to release players at this time is difficult, yet a necessary part of the process," said Jim Johannson, general manager of the 2014 U.S. National Junior Team and also the assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. "We certainly appreciate the hard work put forth by everyone in attendance. Unfortunately, JT Compher is leaving the team due to an injury suffered during practice."
