Team USA held its first practice at Malmo Isstadion on Christmas Eve. The squad was back to full strength with forwards Adam Erne and Tyler Motte back on the ice. Using speed and quick passing to take advantage of the Olympic-sized ice surface continues to be a point of emphasis. A good portion of the 60-minute skate was also spent on special teams concepts.

In the evening, Team USA enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at its hotel. Next, the team split into two groups to compete against one another in a team building activity -- a race to build a USA Hockey-themed puzzle. The team that won is pictured with it's "Team First" puzzle. Finally, the players reconvened and exchanged gifts, some more well-planned out than others. They also took time to record the video below.

Christmas was also a work day for the U.S. squad. Official IIHF head shots were taken in the morning. Immediately after, Team USA jumped on the ice for its final practice heading into the tournament. Staff members were scattered about the hotel in the afternoon attending meetings to review IIHF rules and protocol with the tournament set to begin in less than 24 hours.
