Today's games in Groups A and B have significant playoff round implications. Here is a breakdown of what each game means to the standings.
Group A
USA vs Canada - Win in regulation for either team will earn them first place in group. The U.S. can still claim the group with an overtime or shootout loss.
Czech Republic vs Slovakia - Czechs need at least 2 points (win or overtime win) to avoid the relegation round.
Group B
Finland vs Switzerland - A Finland win in regulation time combined with a Russia victory over Sweden in regulation time will result in a three-way tie for first place, and the seeding will be determined by goal differential in the games between these three teams.
Sweden vs Russia - Any win for Sweden earns them first place in the group, Russia can factor in to a tiebreaker scenario with a regulation win.
