The 2014 U.S. Men's National Team finished sixth among 16 teams at the IIHF Men's World Championship in Minsk, Belarus. Team USA (4-1-0-3, W-OTW-OTL-L) placed second in Group B before losing to Czech Republic in the quarterfinal round. It was the 10th time in 11 years that the U.S. qualified for the quarterfinals.

Team USA's best three players, as determined by the U.S. staff, were Seth Jones, Tyler Johnson and Craig Smith. Jones, the youngest player on the team (19), led the squad with 11 points (2-9). Additionally, Jones was named Best Defenseman by the tournament directorate and was picked for the Media All-Star Team. Johnson led Team USA with six goals and ended the tournament with nine points. Smith, skating in his fourth straight IIHF Men's World Championship, tallied three goals and five assists.

Peter Laviolette served as head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team for the third time (2004-bronze, 2005).

Next May, at the 2015 IIHF Men's World Championship in Prague/Ostrava, Czech Republic, the U.S. will play the preliminary round in Ostrava, grouped with Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Norway, Belarus, Slovenia and Denmark.
