U.S. Under-18 Select Team Practices at Kettler Capitals Iceplex Aug. 3-5

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Under-18 Select Team will be in Arlington, Virginia, at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex for a series of practices beginning Sunday, Aug. 3, in preparation for the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

Each of the team’s practices will be free and open to the public.

The 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup will be staged Aug. 11-16 in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia, and features teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

The 22-player roster was picked following the USA Hockey Boys' Select 17 Player Development Camp that took place June 26-July 2 at The Northtown Center at Amherst in Williamsville, New York.

USA Hockey player development camps provide top young players with concentrated on- and off-ice training and instruction, as well as the opportunity to compete at the national level against other top players from their age group.

The assistant coaches are Pat Mikesch(Green Bay, Wis.), general manager and head coach of the United States Hockey League's Green Bay Gamblers; Nick Fohr (Dexter, Mich.), assistant coach for the U.S. National Under-17 Team, part of the U.S. National Team Development Program; Pat Boller (Danbury, Conn.), assistant general manager and assistant coach of the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack; and Guy Gosselin (Grafton, Wis.), a regional manager for USA Hockey's American Development Model.
