GAMEDAY: Team USA Faces Sweden

Today is the first meeting between the U.S. and Sweden at the 2014 Four Nations Cup. The U.S. opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Finland and a 3-2 loss to Canada. The game will take place at 1 p.m. (local) at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia. The game will be streamed live on USAHockey.FASTHockey.com. Prior to the 2014 Four Nations Cup, the last meeting between the two teams at this event took place on Nov. 9, 2013. In that game, the U.S. defeated Sweden, 8-1 to place third in the tournament. It was the second of two wins vs. Sweden at last year’s event.

In the Four Nations Cup, Team USA has never lost to Sweden, holding a 14-0-0-0-0 record (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) overall. The U.S. has shut out Sweden in four of the last five games over the last four years by a collective score of 34-1.

Prior to the Four Nations Cup, the last time the U.S. and Sweden met in an international tournament was during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. There, the U.S. defeated Sweden, 6-1, in the semifinal game on Feb. 17 to advance to the gold medal game vs,. Canada.
