Erik Foley (Wayne, Ill.) opened the scoring for USA Blue when he tapped home a pass from Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) at 6:28. Jack Roslovic (Columbus, Ohio) put USA White on the board when he finished a passing sequence from Chad Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Johnathan MacLeod (Lowell, Mass.). USA Blue regained the lead less than a minute later when Dominic Turgeon (Cherry Hills, Colo.) tapped the puck into an open net off a pass from Caleb Jones (Frisco, Texas).

USA White evened the score again at 10:03 when Roslovic’s pass from the corner found Conor Garland (Mansfield, Mass.) near the left faceoff dot. Garland collected the pass, skated toward the slot, and fired a wrist shot past Brandon Halverson (Traverse City, Mich.). With two minutes remaining, Paul Bittner (Crookston, Minn.) scored to make it 3-2 for USA Blue. Bracco and Noah Hanifin (Norwood, Mass.) were credited with assists on the play.

Both teams traded chances early in the second half before Jones scored unassisted at 22:21 to give USA Blue a 4-2 advantage. Ryan Hitchcock (Manhasset, N.Y.) fired a wrist shot from the high slot to bring USA White back within a goal with 5:31 remaining in the second half.
