LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) and Noah Hanifin (Norwood, Mass.) both scored, but the U.S. fell to Sweden, 5-2, here tonight at the 2015 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, New York.

Kyle Connor (Shelby Township, Mich.) nearly made it 1-0 for the U.S. just five minutes into the game, but his shorthanded effort was gloved by Sweden goaltender Felix Sandstrom at 15:50.

Sweden opened the scoring at 10:10 with a power-play tally from Joel Eriksson Ek.

Bracco evened the score three minutes into the middle frame when he took possession of the puck deep in Sweden’s zone, skated around the perimeter and fired a wrist shot into net from the high slot.

Hanifin gave the U.S. a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal three minutes later at 6:25. The play started when Dylan Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) collected the puck on the right wall and passed it back to Chad Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.), who then found Hanifin at the top of the left circle for a wrist shot that beat Sweden’s goaltender blocker side.

Sweden evened the score at 15:41 with a wrist shot that beat Evan Sarthou (Black Diamond, Wash.). The U.S. nearly made it 3-2 with two point-blank chances in the final minute of the period, but entered intermission tied, 2-2.

Sweden tallied three unanswered goals in the third period for the 5-2 final.
