OFF DAY FOR TEAM USA
With no practice on the schedule, the U.S. National Junior Team enjoyed a team meal in downtown Helsinki. The team will then either venture through the city or spend time with family before returning to the hotel for a team dinner. Some may catch today's tournament games on TV or in person while others will spend time relaxing in the Xbox player's lounge here in the hotel before gathering tonight to prepare for tomorrow's game against Switzerland.

LOOKING AHEAD: TEAM USA VS. SWITZERLAND
Tomorrow (Dec. 30), the U.S. National Junior Team will take on Switzerland for game three of the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship. The U.S., currently 1-0-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L), sits second in Group A while Switzerland (0-0-0-2) is fifth. The game is set for 1 p.m. ET and will be televised live on NHL Network.

LAST GAME: USA 0, SWEDEN 1
Team USA outshot Sweden, 46-23, but fell 1-0 in its second of four preliminary round games. Zach Werenski (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./University of Michigan), who led all players in the game with six shots on goal, was named the U.S. Player of the Game. For full game recap, click here.

The connections among many of this year's U.S. National Junior Team staff traces back to their playing days

In 1982, assistant coach Chris Chelios skated in the IIHF World Junior Championship alongside Team USA advance scout, Kelly Miller. He then played with Team USA general manager Jim Johannson on the University of Wisconsin squad that claimed the 1982 NCAA championship. The following year, Miller and Johannson represented the U.S. in the 1983 IIHF World Junior Championship, where Miller served as captain for Team USA.

Head coach Ron Wilson guided Team USA to the championship in the inaugural World Cup of Hockey in 1996. Chelios later served as captain for Wilson's U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team that competed in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Wilson also coached Miller for two seasons (1997-99) during his time as head coach of the Washington Capitals. In 1998, the two helped the Capitals reach the Stanley Cup Finals.
