Team USA begins play in the 2016 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship on Friday, January 8th at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines. The 2015 tournament, which was hosted at HARBORCENTER, ranked second all-time in attendance with nearly 14,000 tickets distributed. The tournament was highlighted by a sold-out gold medal final between Canada and the United States, in which Team USA won on an overtime goal by tournament MVP Jincy Dunne. The victory earned the United States its fourth gold medal, and first since 2011.

This will mark the first time that the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team will compete against a professional team. The Beauts, who play home games at HARBORCENTER, are 11 games into their inaugural season in the National Women’s Hockey League, along with the Connecticut Whale, Boston Pride and New York Riveters. The NWHL will also hold its first all-star game at HARBORCENTER on Sunday, January 24th.
