The 2016 U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team went undefeated in the preliminary round of the 2016 International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship with a pair of 6-0 wins over Czech Republic on Friday and Russia on Saturday followed by a 4-1 victory over Canada on Monday. The U.S. will continue play in the semifinals against Sweden today at 4 p.m. ET at Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario. The match-up will be streamed at FASTHockey.com.

The U.S. and Sweden are meeting for the eighth time at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship. Team USA holds a 7-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record against Sweden with the last meeting taking place on March 26, 2013. The U.S. won 7-0 in a preliminary round game. The U.S. has outscored Sweden 52-4 overall and has not allowed a goal in the last five meetings dating back to 2010. The U.S. has outscored Sweden 37-0 during that span.

The U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team honored Denna Laing earlier this week to show it’s support for the Boston Pride (NWHL) forward who was injured during a game on Dec. 31. Beginning with today’s game and for the remainder of the tournament, Team USA is wearing helmet decals with “DL Strong” to show their support for Denna and her family.
