Kyle Zach (South Hadley, Mass.) and Noah Grove (Frederick, Md.) each tallied a goal and an assist and Griffin LaMarre (Haverhill, Mass.) stopped all six shots he faced as the U.S. Developmental Sled Hockey Team shut out Canada, 2-0, to even the three-game series at the 2016 Defi Sportif at Howie Morenz Arena in Montreal, Quebec. The two teams will meet in the final game tomorrow (May 1) at 1:30pm ET.

“It was a great bounce back performance to even the series,” said Mike MacMillan, head coach of the U.S. Developmental Sled Hockey Team. “Now, it’s important we carry this effort over into tomorrow to finish the series and the season on a good note.”

Despite the U.S. holding a 9-3 shot advantage after two periods, the game remained scoreless until 6:25 into the final frame when Zych’s wrist shot from the left circle beat Canada’s goaltender, Adam Kingsmill.

Grove, who assisted on Zych’s opening goal, accounted for the 2-0 final when he collected a pass from Zych and slid the puck beneath Kingsmill.

LaMarre stopped all six shots he faced to earn the shutout.
