Girls 18 PDC - Day 1 Recap

Team Gold opened the USA Hockey Girls Under-18 Player Development Camp with a 2-1 victory over Team Royal on July 11.  Taylor Anderson opened the game’s scoring with a goal at 6:10 for Team Royal.  Team Gold rallied with second period markers by Tanner Gates and Michaela Boyle. In the nets, Alexis Barker and Aerin Frankel combined for 16 saves in the win.

Team Purple posted a 3-2 win over Team White in the second game of the day.  Erin Olson posted two first period goals, including the game winner for Team Purple, while Eleri Mackay added the final tally.  Haley Hodge and Valerie Caldwell closed the gap with the final two goals of the contest for Team White.  Abigail Levy and Lynsey Wallace combined for 21 saves in the win.

Team Light Blue and Team Red skated to a 3-3 tie.  McKenzie Haberl led Team Red with two goals, and Gillis Frechette added the other marker.  Light Blue’s scoring was opened by Margaret Walsh opened the scoring for Light Blue in the first period. Hayley Lunny added a pair of tallies in the middle frame.

Team Green jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then held on to win 5-3 over Team Pink.  Madison Doucette opened the scoring at :45 with a goal for Green. Kaleigh Donnelly scored back-to-back goals for Green in the opening frame before Cecille Ehrhard also found the net for Green to make it 4-0. Chole Mcenelly got Pink on the board with just :04 left in the first period.  In the second, Isabel Daniel scored Team Green’s final goal to make it 5-1. Team Pink’s Megan Wagner and Sophie Holden each scored to bring the final to 5-3.

The first day was completed with a 5-2 victory by Team Gray over Team Black. Team Gray’s Grace Heiting and Jillian Parsons scored in the first period to make the score 2-0.  Team Black’s Samantha Smigliani and Emilie Harley replied with a pair of goals to tie it at 2-2 heading into the first intermission.  Heiting and Parsons would again add a goal each in the second period. Goalies Alexa Dobchuk and Camryn Kronish combined for 24 saves in the victory for Team Gray.
