Team Black and Team Light Blue Earn Division Crowns

The final day of action at the 2016 USA Hockey Girls Under-18 Player Development Camp wrapped up at St. Cloud State University’s Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on July 15.  The winner of the National Division championship was Team Light Blue won the National Division championship with a 2-0 win over Team Gray, while Team Black won the American Division crown with a 1-0 win over Team Purple.

The day started with a 4-2 victory for Team Royal over Team White.  Taylor Anderson, Kelsey King, Carley Seldar and Mary McCafferty scored goals to give Team Royal the win.

In the first round of the American Division tourney, Team Black posted a 2-0 victory as Mallorie Iozzo and Morgan Schauer notched goals in the contest.  Hannah Lindey had six saves and the shutout for Team Black.

Team Purple advanced in the American Division playoffs with a 3-0 win over Team Pink.  Eleri MacKay scored twice and Carolina Bowlby also scored for Team Purple.  Goalie Lynsey Wallace had five saves in the game and the shutout for Team Purple.

In the American Division consolation game, Team Red’s Devin Porazinski scored the winning goal in a 1-0 decision over Team Pink.  Courtney DeNaut made five saves in the shutout for Team Red.

In the American Division title game, Team Black’s Emilie Harley scored the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Team Purple.  Elizabeth Hanson earned the shutout win for Team Black with five saves in the contest.

On the National Division side, Team Gray advanced with a shootout victory over Team Gold.  The game was tied 0-0 after regulation before Team Gray’s Sophia Slattery won the game with a goal in the shootout session.

In the other first round game, Team Light Blue posted a 2-1 win over Team Green.  Madison Tregenza gave Team Green a 1-0 lead before Team Light Blue won it with goals by Anne Berry and Emma Katzman.

Team Gold gained a 1-0 victory over Team Green in the National Division consolation game. Cailey Kozich chalked up the game winner for Team Gold, while Alexis Baker had seven saves and the shutout in gaining the victory.

The camp was completed with a 2-0 victory by Team Light Blue over Team Gray in the National Division title game.  Anne Berry and Madeline Dunham scored goals for the Team Light Blue, while goalie Sophia Meregeas made 10 saves to bring home the shutout victory and the National Division championship for Light Blue.
