Girls 15 PDC - Day 1 Recap

In the first game of the USA Hockey Girls 15 Player Development Camp, Team Red scored a 3-1 victory over Team Gold.  Team Red’s Brooke Bink, Madison Novotny and Taylor Adams all scored first period goals in the victory.

In the second game, Team White charted a 4-2 win over Team Teal. Breja Parent scored in the first before teammates Kailey Langefels, McKenna Ellingson and Lillian Feeney padded Team White’s lead to 4-1 with second period goals.

Light Blue marked a 6-4 win over Team Orange.  The two squads skated to a 3-3 deadlock after one period of play before Maya Mangiafico scored the game winner in the second for Light Blue.  Danielle Hartje had one goal and four assists while teammate Marissa Agerter had two goals for Light Blue.

Ellison Hegdahl scored in the first period and teammate Sarah Steadman added the second period game-winner in Team Green’s 2-1 victory over Team Gray.  Emily Herdine scored the lone goal for Team Gray.  In the nets, Green’s Grace London and Megan Meyers combined for 19 saves in the game.

Team Black earned a first day victory with an overtime goal by Maija Almich for a 3-2 win over Team Pink.  Hannah Bilka and Courtney Hyland also netted goals for Team Black in the contest.

The final game of the day featured a 4-1 victory for Team Royal over Team Vegas.  Royal gained a 2-0 lead in the game with goals by Catherine Appleyard and Claire Hickey before Vegas broke the shutout with a goal by Delaney Couture.  Team Royal replied with goals by Peyton Anderson and Katherine Boland to bring the final to 4-1.  Hannah Turnage and Anna Venhercke combined for nine saves and the victory for Team Royal.

The USA Hockey Girls 15 Player Development Camp is being hosted this year by St. Cloud State University at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
