Tage Thompson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) scored three times and 9 other players tallied at least a point as USA Blue topped Finland, 8-1.

Finland opened the scoring 2:15 into the game when a puck loose in the crease was swiped in by Otto Somppi.

Thompson evened the score at the 10:27 mark when he intercepted a pass at Finland’s blue line, skated past a defender and lifted a backhander over the pad of Finnish goaltender, Markus Ruusku.

Five goals in the second stanza extended USA Blue’s lead to 6-1. The scoring started just 3:41 into the frame when Thompson caught a pass from Tom Novak (River Falls, Wis.) in front and beat Ruusku high blocker side. Just :21 later, Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) scored his first of the camp when he tapped home a pass from Tanner Laczynski (Shorewood, Ill.). After Novak tallied twice — once at the 9:25 marker and again with 2:41 remaining — Thompson scored his third goal of the game with 1:01 left in the period to account for the 6-1 advantage.

Alex DeBrincat (Farmington Hills, Mich.) gave USA Blue its seventh goal of the game 4:01 into the final frame when he fired in a centering feed from Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn.). Just 2:22 later, Luke Kunin (Chesterfield, Mo.) tallied while shorthanded to account for the 8-1 final.

Evan Sarthou (Black Diamond, Wash.), who started for USA Blue, finished with nine saves on 10 shots in 29:19 minutes of play. In 30:41 minutes of play, Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.) stopped all 13 shots he faced.

USA White opened the scoring four minutes into the game when Kieffer Bellows (Edina, Minn.) sent a one-timer past Sweden’s goaltender, Felix Sandstorm. The play started when Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill.) skated away from goal and dropped the puck at the blue line to JD Greenway (Canton, N.Y.)  who, skated down the middle and found Bellows alone at the right face-off dot for the game’s opening goal.

Sweden evened the scoring with at the 10:28 mark when Gustav Bouramman’s shot from the blue line beat a screened Tyler Parsons (Chesterfield, Mich.). 

USA White regained the lead four minutes later when Trent Frederic (St. Louis, Mo.) banged home a rebound off a shot by Ryan Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn.).

USA White, which outshot Sweden, 20-8, in the opening frame, extended its lead to 3-1 when Troy Terry (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) cut in front of the net and tucked a pass from Kailer Yamamoto (Spokane, Wash.) under the right side of the crossbar.  

Sweden cut USA White’s lead to one when John Dahlstromm beat Parsons with a breakaway tally 5:21 into the middle stanza. Dahlstromm connected again just under four minutes later to even the score, 3-3.

Sweden scored three times over the final 10 minutes of play to account for the 6-3 final.

Parsons, who started the game for USA White, finished with 14 saves on 17 shots in 29:57 minutes of play. In 28:18 minutes of play, Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo.) made 19 saves on 22 shots.
