RECAP: United States 5, Canada 1

The United States struck first just 2:19 into the game when Jack Roslovic (Columbus, Ohio) scored off a pass from Christian Fischer (Chicago, Ill.). The play started when Fischer collected the puck behind Canada’s goal, curled around the right side of the net and backhanded a pass through the crease that found Roslovic below the left face-off dot for the one-timer goal.

Jordan Greenway (Potsdam, N.Y.) extended Team USA’s lead to 2-0 when he tapped in a pass from Kieffer Bellows (Edina, Minn.) with 1:12 remaining in the period. As Team USA’s power play expired, Brock Boeser (Burnsville, Minn.) sent a cross-ice fed to the right point where Keller whipped a pass down to Bellows at the right face-off dot who one-timed it to Greenway alone in front for the tap-in goal.

Parsons was called upon early for the United States as he finished the opening frame with 22 saves to keep the score, 2-0.

After Bellows hit the crossbar early in the second period, Logan Brown (St. Louis, Mo.) fired a wrist shot through a screen in front of goal to make it 3-0 for Team USA at the 5:55 mark.

In the final period, Keller tallied on the power play but Nicolas Roy responded for Canada just :41 later to to make it 4-1 and end Parsons’ shutout bid with 5:11 remaining in the game. Boeser would add a tally in the final minute to bring the final to 5-1.
