Prior to the 2016 Four Nations Cup, the last meeting between the two teams at this event took place on November 4, 2015. In that game, the U.S. defeated Sweden, 6-2 in the only meeting between the teams at that tournament.
USA vs. SWEDEN: In the Four Nations Cup, Team USA has never lost to Sweden, holding a 16-0-0-0-0 record (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) overall. The U.S. has shut out Sweden in five of the last seven games over the last six years by a collective score of 43-3.
THE FOUR NATIONS CUP: The Four Nations Cup is an annual tournament that has been held in varying forms since 1996. The U.S. competes against Canada, Sweden and Finland in this year’s tournament. This year marks the 21st year of the tournament (previously the Three Nations Cup). Games will be held at Jarvenpaa Arena, Kerava Arena and Vierumaki Arena. The United States has competed in the tournament 19 times, having not participated in 2001. The United States has captured the title six times (1997, 2003, 2008, 2011-12, 2015), finished second 12 times and third in the tournament in 2013. The Americans hold an overall record of 43-6-5-23-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) in 79 Three/Four Nations Cup games.
