The U.S. Men’s and Women’s National University Teams were both in action today (Dec. 29) in exhibition games ahead of the 2017 Winter World University Games, which are set for Jan. 29-Feb. 8 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The U.S. Men’s National University Team defeated the EHL All-Stars, 10-2, while the U.S. Women’s National University Team fell to the Chicago Mission, 9-1.
Men’s National University Team Defeats EHL All-Stars, 10-2
WALPOLE, Mass. -- The U.S. Men’s National University Team scored five goals in both the second and third periods en route to a 10-2 win over the Eastern Hockey League All-Stars here today in an exhibition game at the New England Sports Center.
Sean Murphy (Cary, N.C./Arizona State University) notched two goals and an assist, while J.T. Hall (Lake Grove, N.Y./Stony Brook University) also added three points (1-2).
Christopher Marsillo (Lincroft, N.J./Rutgers University) stopped eight of nine shots to earn the win. Joe Olen (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./University of Illinois) made five saves in relief.

Women’s National University Team Falls to Chicago Mission, 9-1
WOODRIDGE, Ill. – The U.S. Women’s National University Team fell to the Chicago Mission, 9-1, here today in an exhibition game at Seven Bridges Arena.
“Most of the Chicago Mission are committed to Division I schools so it was a great tempo to give our girls an idea of the speed we will see overseas,” said Shelley Looney, head coach of the 2017 U.S. Women’s National University Team. “We saw some good things out of this team in its first game together. We can build from here.”
Maddie Wolsmann (Maple Grove, Minn./Michigan State University) scored the lone goal for Team USA.
The U.S. takes on Lindenwood University tomorrow (Dec. 30) at 8:30 p.m. ET to close out its exhibition schedule.
