U.S. Natl Sled Team To Train This Weekend in Pittsburgh

Camp Begins Thursday, Jan. 26; David Hoff Tabbed Assistant Coach

The 2016-17 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will train this weekend (Jan. 26-28) at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, the primary practice and training facility for the Pittsburgh Penguins, in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. 

Team USA will hold five practices, all open to the public, commencing Thursday (Jan. 26). 

The 2016-17 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team is led by captain Andy Yohe (Bettendorf, Iowa) and alternate captains Nikko Landeros (Johnstown, Colo.) and Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.). In addition to Landeros and Pauls, the U.S. roster includes two other two-time Paralympic gold medalists, including forward Adam Page (Lancaster, N.Y.) and goaltender Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.).

HOFF NAMED ASSISTANT COACH FOR TEAM USA

The three-day training camp will be the first for David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.), who will be making his U.S. national team debut as an assistant coach for the 2016-17 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. Hoff, who serves as USA Hockey's North Plans Coach-In-Chief, joins Team USA after serving as a camp coach for the last six USA Hockey Sled Hockey Player Development Camps. 

Currently, Hoff is the head coach of Bottineau High School boys ice hockey team in Bottineau, North Dakota, where he also serves both as an athletic director and mathematics teacher for Bottineau High School. In his 28 years of coaching high school hockey in Bottineau, he is a seven-time Region Coach of the Year, four-time North Dakota High School Coach of the Year and finalist for the National High School Coach of the Year in 2015.

Additional team staff members include athletic trainer Mike Cortese (Boynton Beach, Fla.), equipment manager Joel Isaacson (Houghton, Mich.), and team physician Mike Uihlein (Grafton, Wis.). Cortese, Isaacson, and Uihlein have been staff members for the past four seasons.
