U.S. Women's Nat'l Univ. Team Defeated by Canada

ALMATY, Kazakhstan - Becca Senden (Medina, Minn./University of Minnesota) scored, but the U.S. Women's National University Team fell to Canada, 8-1, in the semifinals of the 2017 Winter World University Games.

Nicole Matthews (West Chester, Ohio/Miami University) and Kendra Myers (Cedar Springs, Mich./Grand Valley State University) each picked up an assist on Senden's shorthanded tally with 3:20 left in the second period.

Lauren Allen (Gregory, Mich./Grand Valley State University) finished with 50 saves in goal for the U.S.

Team USA closes out play at the Winter World University Games against China on Monday (Feb. 6) in the tournament's third-place game. Puck drop for that contest is set for 5:30 a.m. ET and will be streamed live here. 

NOTES: The U.S. is competing at the 2017 Winter World University Games alongside Canada, China, Great Britain, Japan, Russia and host Kazakhstan.
