AMHERST, N.Y. – All good things must come to an end. That was the case today for Team Royal goaltender Isaiah Saville (Anchorage, Alaska). His shutout streak was finally snapped at 99:09. But a silver lining shined through for Saville, as his Royal squad still managed a 2-1 victory over Team Gray.

Chase Pletzke (Bay City, Minn.) did the streak-snapping, deflecting a pass attempt at the blue line, sending himself on a breakaway and beating Saville to tie the game at 1-1 with 51 seconds remaining in the half. But Matthew Kessel (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) of Team Royal went on to score the game-winner, his second goal of the week, with 7:40 remaining in the second half.

The second game of the day pitted the top two teams in terms of points as Team Gold (2-0-0-1) faced off with Team Kelly (2-0-0-1).

The game began as a track meet with both teams flying up the ice and creating numerous chances. The pace settled as the period went on and only Team Kelly’s Xan Gurney (Gross Ile, Mich.) was able to beat goaltender Connor Androlewixz (Everett, Mass.) on the far side to get his team on the board in the first frame.

Team Gold rallied to tie the game with just under 10 minutes to play, but a late go-ahead goal from Gabriel Blanchard (East Aurora, N.Y.) and two empty-netters secured the 4-2 victory for Team Kelly.

Team White found itself in a familiar position in today’s game against Team Columbia, trailing 5-0. Unlike Monday, however, Team White didn’t have any comeback magic, and despite scoring to make the game interesting, White ultimately fell to Columbia 5-3.

Connor Caponi (Brookfield, Wis.) of Team Columbia continued with his physical style of play and also added two goals in the first half, the first of which was a laser-beam of a shot that beat the goalie on the near side over his shoulder.

Never giving up on a play, Caponi’s second goal came following his own shot that was deflected off of a defender. He eventually buried the rebound.

Blaine Warnet (Chaska, Minn.) also added two goals for Team Columbia.

Vermont’s Kyle Haskins scored Team White’s first goal of the game and now has a camp-leading eight points (5G, 3A), along with Blake McLaughlin (4G, 4A) of Team Orange (a familiar color for the native of Grand Rapids, Minnesota) and Team Red’s Sammy Renlund (2G, 6A) from Verona, Wis. If any of them are able to register one point tomorrow, they would tie Joey Strada, Brannon McManus and Jacob McGrew who led last year’s Boys Select 17 Player Development Camp with nine points each.

The final two games of the evening saw Team Orange fall to Team Forest 4-1, and in the Battle of the Brothers, Christian Krygier and Team Black got the best of his brother Cole Krygier’s Team Red by a score of 4-3.

Team Black and Team Kelly are now tied for most team points each with 10. Team Black remains unbeaten this week.

Tomorrow will be the last full schedule of games. After that, it’s the All-Star Game on Friday morning. Team Forest and Team Gold will lead off the schedule tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
