Girls 15 PDC Notebook: Day 3

Today's Camp Notebook

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The 2017 USA Hockey Girls 15 Player Development Camp continued today with games at St. Cloud State University’s Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

In the opening game, Team Gray and Team Orange skated to a 1-1 overtime tie, as goals were scored by Paige Larose (Sutton, Mass.) for Team Orange and by Lacey Martin (Minnetonka, Minn.) for Team Gray. Goaltenders Amanda Busky (Ellington, Conn.) and Lexi Levy (St. Louis, Mo.) combined for 18 saves for Team Gray while Taylor Hyland (Wellesley, Mass.) and Amelia Julian (Apple Valley, Minn.) registered 15 saves for Team Orange.

In Game 2, Team Light Blue secured a 3-2 victory over Team Green. Tamara Bo Rabin (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal in the second period for Team Light Blue, while Team Green’s Kiara Zanon (Fairport, N.Y.) had two goals in the contest.

The National Pool games were up next, with Team Vegas defeating Team Pink 3-0. Goaltenders Kennedy Marciw (Livonia, Mich.) and Alyson Toth (Winchester, Va.) combined for 11 saves and the shutout, while Team Vegas goals were added by Carson Zanella (Waukesha, Wis.), Anna Hurd (Pelham, N.Y.) and Jordan Kowalski (Westfield, Mass.).

Next up, Team Royal defeated Team Black 3-1 in the second National Pool contest. Ellie Marcovsky (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored the game-winner, while teammate Estelle Jungels (Edina, Minn.) added a short-handed goal for Team Royal. Mia Biotti (Cambridge, Mass.) had Team Black’s lone goal, while Team Royal goaltenders Jennifer Olnowich (Madison, N.J.) and Christine Steege (Orange, Calif.) combined for 16 saves and the win.

The Liberty Pool contests closed the day, and in the first matchup, Team White skated to a 9-1 victory over Team Red. Anika Stoskopf (Roseau, Minn.) had a hat trick in the game for Team White, while teammate Avery Myers (Fargo, N.D.) added one goal. Team White goaltenders Daisy Boynton (Concord, Mass.) and Amanda Lackmann (Farmington, Minn.) posted 20 saves to gain the win.

In the final game of the day, Team Gold topped Team Teal 3-2. Sydney Langseth (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Evelyne Blais-Savoie (San Jose, Calif.) scored second-period goals to ice the win for Team Gold, while Katherine Pyne (Cohasset, Mass.) scored both goals for Team Teal.

Tommorow's final day of camp will be highlighted by pool-play tournament games to decide the camp champions. Play begins at 8:30 a.m. Central Time with a Liberty Pool matchup.
