AMHERST, N.Y. – Those who played well enough throughout the week were invited to finally wear the USA crest and display their skills during USA Hockey’s Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp All-Star Game today at the Northtown Center. When the final buzzer sounded, Team Blue claimed a 4-1 victory over Team White.

The first period was fast, furious and featured few stoppages. Both starting goaltenders – Derek Mullahy (Scituate, Mass.) and Kyle Chauvette (New Boston, N.H.) – looked solid and handled most scoring opportunities with ease.

Team Blue eventually opening the scoring, cashing in on the power play with a goal from Killian Kiecker-Olson (Andover, Minn.), who converted a slick pass from John Fusco (Westwood, Mass.).

Penalties continued to haunt Team White in the opening minutes of the second period, but White weathered the storm and finally got the equalizer from Arthur Kaliyev (Staten Island, N.Y.), who was the camp’s leading goal-scorer throughout the week. He added to his total with 11:10 remaining in the second period, gathering a drop pass from Jake Hale (Minneapolis, Minn.), before toe-dragging his way around a defender and finishing top shelf to tie the game at 1-1.

Team Blue responded just 34 seconds later when Erik Bargholtz (Appleton, Wis.) deflected a shot from the point by Jake Boltman (Edina, Minn.) that bounced off of the ice and over Chauvette’s left pad to make it 2-1 Team Blue.

Primo Self (Grand Rapids, Mich.) then extended Blue’s lead. The Fox Motors forward received a great pass between the legs of a defender from Kyle Schroeder (Lincolnshire, Ill.), then faked the forehand shot before deking Ethan Haider (Maple Grove, Minn.) and finishing on the backhand to put Team Blue up 3-1. Blue added an empty-net goal in the third period to make the final margin 4-1.

USA Hockey will announce its roster for the Five Nations Tournament later today. Keep it locked to TeamUSA.USAHockey.com for that announcement.
