Girls U-18 PDC Notebook: Day 3

Today's Camp Notebook

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – USA Hockey’s Girls U-18 Player Development Camp continued today at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on the campus of St. Cloud State University.

Team Royal Blue 5, Team Gold 3

In the first game of the day on July 18, Team Royal Blue charted a 5-3 win over Team Gold. Goals by Brooke Bryant (Linden, Calif.), Lexi Chevyldayoff (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Madisen Peterson (Princeton, Minn.) provided Team Royal with a 3-1 lead after the first period. In the second period, Micaela Sindoris (Charlestown, Mass.) added two goals to give Royal Blue the winning edge. Goalies Carly Denora (Verona, N.J.) and Kaley Doley (Livonia, Mich.) recorded 22 saves in the game for the winners. Madison Mashuga (Andover, Minn.), Lily Yovetich (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Gabbie Cox (Niverville, N.Y.) scored for Team Gold.

Team Red 1, Team Light Blue 1 OT

In a classic defensive battle, Team Red and Team Light Blue skated to a 1-1 draw. Gretchen Klens (Springboro, Ohio) opened the scoring with a goal at 14:31 for Team Light Blue. Team Red’s Anna Segedi (Commerce Township, Mich.) knotted the score at 16:40 of the first. Between the pipes, Jada Brenon (Lockport, N.Y.) and JoJo Chobak (Northbrook, Ill.) combined for 24 saves for Team Light Blue, while netminders Maddox Angerhofer (Stratham, N.H.) and Sophie Goldberg (Newtown, Penn.) posted a total of 16 saves for Team Red.

Team White 4, Team Purple 1

A pair of goals to begin and end the game by Abigail Schauer (Grand Forks, N.D.) provided the winning edge for Team White in a 4-1 decision against Team Purple.  Danielle Castino (Naperville, Ill.) and Sadie Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) also scored for Team White, while Team Purple’s lone marker was notched by McKenna Ellingson (Alexandria, Minn.). Team White goalies Arielle DeSmet (Charlotte, Vt.) and Hannah Turnage (White Lake, Mich.) posted a combined total of 25 saves in the game. 

Team Green 6, Team Pink 5

Team Green’s Caroline Goffredo (Mount Laurel, N.J.) scored game-winning goal, her second tally of the day, at 13:56 of the second period. Teammate Carly Beniek (Mound, Minn.) also scored a pair of goals in the contest, while Mollie Dalbey (Silver Spring, Md.) and Eliza Beaudin (Lewiston, Maine) completed Team Green’s offensive output. Team Pink was led by Gina Driscoll (Orange, Conn.) and Currie Putrah (Faribault, Minn.) with one goal and one assist apiece. Ava Bailey (Hudson, Wisc.) and Chloe Stockinger (Sauk Rapids, Minn.), playing minutes from her hometown, compiled 21 saves in the game for Team Green.

Team Gray 5, Team Black 2

Team Gray opened the contest with four unanswered goals from Kelsey King (Elk River, Minn.), Sophie Lupone (Suffield, Conn.), Delani Mackay (Brookfield, Wisc.) and Maya Mangiafico (Medfield, Mass,). Team Black’s Grace Heiting (Woodbury, Minn.) broke the shutout with a goal at 3:35 of the second period, before Team Gray’s Gabrielle Smith (Brainerd, Minn.) added her team’s fifth and final goal at 10:24 of the second. In goal, Olivia King (Garrison, Minn.) and Taylor Stadeli (Scottsdale, Ariz.) amassed 20 saves in the game for Team Gray.
