Girls U-18 PDC Notebook: Day 6

Today's Camp Notebook

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – USA Hockey’s 2017 National Player Development Camps concluded today with the final morning of competition at the Girls U-18 PDC at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on the St. Cloud State University campus.

 Team Black 3, Team Gray 2

The final day of camp competition began with a 3-2 Team Black victory over Team Gray. Gabrielle Smith (Brainerd, Minn.) scored two goals for Team Gray, while Mary Katherine Gialames (Pittsburgh, Penn.) scored the game-winning goal for Team Black. Smith ended her week in St. Cloud with three goals and one assist. 

Team Royal 2, Team Purple 0

Team Royal advanced to the title game in the American Division with a 2-0 victory over Team Purple. Goaltenders Carly Denora (Verona, N.J.) and Kaley Doyle (Livonia, Mich.) combined for the shutout and 13 saves, while Royal goals were scored by Maddy Johnsen (St. Charles, Mo.) and Madisen Peterson (Princeton, Minn.).

Team Red 2, Team Pink 1 (shootout)

Team Red advanced to the title game in the American Division with a 2-1 shootout win over Team Pink.  Regulation goals were scored by Team Red’s Kenzie D’Ascenzo (Farmington Hills, Mich.) and Team Pink’s Currie Putrah (Faribault, Minn.). Team Red, backstopped by standout goaltender Maddox Angerhofer (Stratham, N.H.), won the shootout 2-0.

Team Gold 2, Team Light Blue 1 (shootout)

In another shootout showdown, Team Gold advanced in the winner’s bracket with a 2-1 decision over Team Light Blue. Brianna Michaud-Nolan (Wells, Maine) scored for Light Blue, while Eleri Mackay (Brookfield, Wisc.) forced the shootout session with a goal for Team Gold. Team Gold, buoyed by goaltender Camryn Kronish (New York, N.Y.) won the shootout 2-1.

Team Green 2, Team White 0

Goaltender Chole Stockinger (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) earned the shutout win for Team Green with four saves, while teammates Caroline Goffredo (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Isabel Daniel (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored in the victory. Goffredo led all camp scorers with five goals this week.

Team Purple 4, Team Pink 2 – 3rd Place American Division

In the battle for third place in the American, Team Purple’s Haley Battles (Prince Frederick, Md.) scored the game winner at 13:52. Currie Putrah had one goal and one assist for Team Pink. 

Team Red 1, Team Royal – 0 (shootout) 1st Place America Division

In a defensive showdown, Team Red gained top honors in the American Division with a 1-0 shootout victory over Team Royal. Team Red edged Team Royal in the shootout session by a 2-1 tally. Goaltenders Maddox Angerhofer (Stratham, N.H.) and Sophie Goldberg (Newtown, Penn.) combined for 17 saves in the nets for Team Red, while Kaley Doyle and Carly Denora had nine saves for Team Royal. Of note, Team Royal’s Brooke Bryant (Linden, Calif.) led all camp scorers with eight points (4G, 4A) this week. 

Team Light Blue 3, Team White 1 – Third Place National Division

Ramsey Parent (Coon Rapids, Minn.) scored a pair of goals to help guide Team Light Blue to a 3-1 win in the third-place match in the National Division. Anna Shelden (Kenai, Alaska) scored Team White’s lone goal.

 Team Gold 2, Team Green 1 (shootout) – First Place National Division

The camp wrapped up with a 2-1 shootout victory by Team Gold over Team Green. Gabbie Cox (Niverville, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Team Gold and also scored the decisive goal in the shootout. Sydney Hendricks (Hudson, Wisc.) scored Team Green’s goal in regulation as Team Gold won the shootout session 1-0. Golden goaltender Camryn Kronish (New York, N.Y.) finished with the camp’s best save percentage (.947) and goals-against average (1.34).
