GAMEDAY: U.S. Meets Sweden at Four Nations Cup

The 2017-18 U.S. Women’s National Team continues the 2017 Four Nations Cup, part of The Time is Now Tour, presented by Toyota, against Sweden tonight (Nov. 10) at 6:30 p.m. ET in Wesley Chapel, Fla., at Florida Hospital Center Ice. Tonight’s matchup between the U.S. and Sweden is the final game of preliminary round play.

GAME DAY: Today is the first meeting between the U.S. and Sweden at the 2017 Four Nations Cup. The game will take place at 6:30 p.m. (ET) at Florida Hospital Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Fla. BUILDING MOMENTUM: Team USA has collected two wins in as many games thus far at the 2017 Four Nations Cup having defeated Finland, 8-2-, in the tournament opener, and Canada, 4-2, in its second game of preliminary round play. Emily Pfalzer led the charge in the opening game, recording a hat trick, while 12 different U.S. players also registered points. In game two, four different players scored goals as the U.S. topped Canada, 4-2. Goaltender Maddie Rooney stood tall in net for both games, making 31 saves with a .886 SVS%.

CLINCHED: With its 4-2 win against Canada on Wednesday night, the U.S. clinched a spot in Sunday’s 2017 Four Nations Cup championship game, which will be held at AMALIE Arena in Tampa at 3:30 p.m ET. Team USA has reached the final of this tournament 19 out of the 20 times it has been held, capturing the title seven times (1997, 2003, 2008, 2011-12, 2015-16), finishing second 12 times and third in the tournament in 2013.

USA vs. SWEDEN: Prior to the 2017 Four Nations Cup, the last meeting between the two teams at this event took place on Nov. 1, 2016, in Vierumaki, Finland, in the opening game of the 2016 Four Nations Cup. In that matchup, twelve different U.S. players tallied points as the U.S. Women’s National Team topped Sweden, 6-0.

STREAKING: In the Four Nations Cup, Team USA has never lost to Sweden, holding a 17-0-0-0-0 record (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) overall. The U.S. has shut out Sweden in six of the last eight games over the last eight years by a collective score of 49-3.
