2018 Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp concludes with a Blue All-Stars victory

Roster announced for the 2018 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament

BLUE ALL-STARS PREVAIL: In a back-and-forth, high-paced affair, Team Blue defeated Team White in the annual Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp All-Star Game by a score of 7-4. Dane Dowiak (Wexford, Pa.), Christian Jimenez (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Tanner Dickinson (Perrysburg, Ohio) each contributed a goal and an assist for Blue, while Jarod Crespo (Eastampton, N.J.), Aidan Thompson (Fort Collins, Colo.), Michael Citara (New Hope, Pa.) and Michael Cameron (Berwyn, Pa.) also found the back of the net. Between the pipes, Gavin Fitzpatrick (Norwood, Mass.) and Peyton Grainer (Livonia, Mich.) combined for the victory.

For Team White, Daniyal Dzhaniyev (Brooklyn, N.Y.) factored in all four goals, tallying a goal and three assists, with Cross Hanas (Highland Village, Texas) contributing a strong effort of his own with three points (1G, 2A). Blake Biondi (Hermantown, Minn.) and David Ma (Yonkers, N.Y.) also recorded a goal apiece for White.

CAMP’S TOP SCORERS: Hanas finished atop all camp skaters with 10 points (2G, 8A) in five games, while Dickinson (6G, 3A), Dowiak (5G, 4A), Dzhaniyev (5G, 4A), Cole Vallese (Rockville, Md. – 2G, 7A) and Nathaniel Hanley (Rocky Point, N.Y. – 1G, 8A) all followed close behind with nine. Dickinson, Isaac Novak (Sussex, Wis.) and Dane Montgomery (Grand Folks, N.D.) paced all goal scorers this week with six apiece.

CAMP’S TOP GOALTENDERS: Aforementioned netminders Fitzpatrick and Grainer were the top Select 16 performing goaltenders, both recording 2.40 goals-against averages to go along with save percentages of .935 and .923, respectively. Colin Purcell (Shaker Heights, Ohio - .919) and Rio Kauffman (Glenwood Springs, Colo. - .901) also posted save percentages above .900 over the course of the week.

NOT QUITE FINISHED CAMPING: With the Select 16s drawing to a close today, next week’s Select 15 Camp concludes the three weeks of USA Hockey Player Development action at Northtown Center. Running from July 15-20, the Select 15s will feature competition between some of the top 2003-born players from across the United States.
