GAMEDAY
The U.S. Women’s National Team opens its preliminary-round schedule at the 2018 Four Nations Cup today against Finland at the SaskTel Centre. Team USA will wear its white jerseys tonight and for the duration of the tournament. Today’s game will be streamed live on HockeyCanada.ca (see schedule below for direct links) and HockeyTV.com, and live game updates will be provided on Twitter.

BACK FOR FOUR
The U.S. has competed in the Four Nations Cup tournament 21 times, has captured the title seven times (1997, 2003, 2008, 2011-12, 2015-17) and hopes to win its fourth-straight title this year in Saskatoon. The Americans hold an overall record of 51-5-5-23-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) in 86 Three/Four Nations Cup games.

USA VS. FINLAND AT THE FOUR NATIONS CUP
The U.S. has fared well against Finland in the Four Nations Cup, historically. Over the last 10 tournaments, Team USA is 9-1 against Finland, outscoring them by a total of 62-7. The U.S. has recorded six shutout victories over the last decade and scored at least four goals in nine of the 10 contests. The two teams’ last match-up in this tournament was in 2017 in Tampa, Florida, where the U.S. defeated its opponent, 8-2. Twelve different U.S. skaters registered points, including Emily Pfalzer (Buffalo, N.Y.), who recorded her first hat trick as a member of the USWNT that night.

BREAKING THE ICE
Six members of Team USA are making their Four Nations Cup debut this week, including Sydney Brodt (North Oaks, Minn.), Mikaela Gardner (Plainfield, Ill.), Caitrin Lonergan (Roslindale, Mass.), Sidney Morin (Minnetonka, Minn.), Emma Polusny (Mound, Minn.) and Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Conn.). With the exception of 2018 Olympic gold medalist Morin, the 2018 Four Nations Cup marks the first time these players will skate as members of the U.S. Women’s National Team.
