The 2019 U.S. Women’s National Team will round out play in the Rivalry Series today (Feb. 17) at 12 p.m. ET in Detroit, Michigan, at Little Caesars Arena after splitting the first two games against its northern rival this week in Ontario.

GAMEDAY: Today will mark the third and final meeting between the U.S. and Canada this week as part of the 2019 Rivalry Series, the first event of its kind held between the rival nations. Fans can catch all the action live in the U.S. by tuning into NHL Network, and following along with @USAHockey using #RivalrySeries on Twitter.

THE SERIES ON THE LINE: In the opening game in London on Tuesday, Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho) scored the game-winning goal and Alex Rigsby (Delafield, Wis.) recorded a 33-save shutout to secure a hard-fought, 1-0 victory for Team USA. But in the second game, Canada struck back, winning a 4-3 game over the U.S. despite eight U.S. skaters registering points. Goaltender Katie Burt (Lynn, Mass.) got her first ever start in net for the U.S. Women’s National Team in Toronto, making 26 saves. Today’s game will decide the champion of the 2019 Rivalry Series.

REMEMBERING GOLD: Today marks the 21st anniversary of the United States capturing the inaugural Olympic gold medal in women’s ice hockey at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, while Feb. 22 will mark exactly one year since the 2018 U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey Team reclaimed gold in PyeongChang, South Korea, in thrilling shootout fashion.

HOCKEY WEEK ACROSS AMERICA: Hockey Week Across America was created by USA Hockey in 2008 to engage the hockey community in celebrating the sport of hockey at all levels and exposing the sport to new audiences. The week-long initiative kicks off today (Feb. 17), with highlighted events including the U.S.-Canada women's game in the concluding game of the Rivalry Series, presented by TCF Bank, at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and also the nine-plus hours of coverage on NBC Sports as part of Hockey Day in America. Each day of Hockey Week Across America has a theme, and for more information, please visit HockeyWeekAcrossAmerica.com.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Rivalry Series serves as an exciting precursor to the 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship, which will be held April 4-14 in Espoo, Finland. The U.S. is entering 2019 worlds as the four-time defending world champions, having claimed the title in 2013, 2015, 2016 and, most recently, for the first time on home soil, in 2017, in Plymouth, Michigan. The U.S. roster for the upcoming world championship is expected to be announced in the weeks following The Rivalry Series.
