The World Cup of Hockey has been held three times with the United States claiming the first championship in 1996. In 2004, Team USA bowed out of the tournament in the semifinals while the U.S. failed to make it past the preliminary round in 2016. 

All-time, Team USA owns an 8-0-1-6 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in World Cup of Hockey play.
