World Jr. A Challenge

About The World Junior A Challenge

The U.S. Junior Select Team, which competes in the World Junior A Challenge, is comprised of players that compete in junior hockey leagues across the U.S. 

Since the inaugural tournament in 2006, Team USA has captured eight tournament crowns (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018) along with a single second-place finish and four third-place finishes. 

The 2020 World Junior A Challenge has been cancelled by Hockey Canada due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The 2019 World Junior A Challenge took place Dec. 7-15, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Team USA won all of its four preliminary round games, including a 5-4 overtime win over the Czech Republic, before falling to Canada East in the semifinals. In the third-place game, U.S. forward Trevor Kuntar scored in overtime to defeat the Czech Republic in for a second time and solidify Team USA's 13th all-time medal in World Junior A Challenge play.
