Team USA's most recent top-three finish at the Hlinka tournament came in 2023 when it placed third with a 3-0-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record.

The competition began in 1991 as the Phoenix Cup, and was renamed the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in 2007 before becoming the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in 2018.
