About The Men's World Championship

The U.S. Men’s National Team won its first gold in 92 years at the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship which was played in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden, May 9-25, 2025.

Team USA competed against host Denmark, along with Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, and Switzerland in Group B in the preliminary round at Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning. It moved on to played quarterfinal, semifinal and gold-medal games in Stockholm, Sweden, at Avicii Arena.

The U.S. finished second in the preliminary round, winning six of its seven games. It downed Finland (5-2) in the quarterfinals, Sweden (6-2) in the semifinals and Switzerland (1-0, OT) in the gold-medal game to earn just its second gold medal ever in the men's worlds.

In total, the U.S. has now earned 14 podium finishes, including two gold medals (2015, 1933), four silver medals (1950, 1939, 1934, 1931) and eight bronze medals (2021, 2018, 2015, 2013, 2004, 1996, 1952, 1949).
